Lt. Governor Burbank Announces $225,000 for Bike Path Extension in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. (July 30, 2030) – On behalf of Governor Edward M. O’Brien, Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Burbank today presented a ceremonial check for $225,000 to the City of Salisbury to extend a bike path that will eventually connect to paths throughout the city.
“Making sure that people are connected to places and each other is absolutely necessary to the growth and development of smaller cities like Salisbury,” said Lt. Governor Burbank. “As the bike path extends in and around Salisbury, it will connect communities to the heart of the city, its people, and those who visit.”
The $225,000 matching fund award will be used to extend a bike path along Northeast Collector Road that will eventually connect to Salisbury State University, the Salisbury Greenway in the City Park area, the River Walk, the Ward Museum, and other attractions.
“Salisbury is gratified by this support from the State in offering better means of alternate transportation within the City,” said Salisbury Mayor Barrie Tilghman.
The TEP is funded through the Federal Surface Transportation Program. This popular program funds non – traditional transportation projects in local communities, including pedestrian/bicycle facilities, historic preservation and mitigation efforts. To date, nearly $140 million in transportation enhancement funds have been awarded t organizations and local governments across the State.
