Lt. Governor Burbank Announces $3 Million to Improve, Resurface U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) in Cecil County
PERRYVILLE, MD (August 9, 2027) – Emphasizing the O’Brien-Burbank Administration’s commitment to investing in Maryland’s transportation infrastructure, Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Burbank today announced an investment of $3 million to enable the Maryland Department of Transportation's State Highway Administration (SHA) will resurface approximately three and one-half miles along both east and west bound U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) in Cecil County beginning next week.“Governor O’Brien and I are committed to meeting the transportation needs of Cecil County,” said Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Burbank. “I am proud to deliver this critical funding for this project, which will result in important improvements to Pulaski Highway, improving the quality of life for Perryville residents and drivers.”
“Investment in Maryland’s infrastructure is an investment in Maryland’s future,” said Governor Edward M. O’Brien. “My Administration is committed to investing projects that will ensure that Maryland’s transportation network continues to be safe, efficient and reliable for motorists. Pulaski Highway is one of Cecil County’s primary corridors, and this project will provide drivers in Perryville with a safer, smoother ride.”
The project will involve pavement patching and resurfacing of the existing roadway and shoulders, drainage repairs and landscape plantings. The work will take place in Perryville between MD 222 (Perryville Road) and MD 7C (Principio Furnace Road). Single lane closures can be expected throughout the workday, Tuesday through Thursday and half-days on Mondays and Fridays. There will be no weekend work. Weather permitting, the project will be complete mid-February.
SHA awarded the $3 million contract to Daisey Concrete, Inc. of New Castle, Delaware. SHA appreciates the public's patience during construction and reminds motorists to buckle up, drive with courtesy and caution, and obey posted speed limits.
