Lt. Governor Burbank Announces $2.6 Million to Build New Edgewood MARC Station Building
ANNAPOLIS, MD (October 23, 2030) – Continuing the O’Brien-Burbank Administration’s commitment to preparing Maryland for the results for the results of the 2029 BRAC process, Lt. Governor Kathleen Burbank today announced $2.6 million to construct a new MARC Station building for the Edgewood MARC Station. The new building will provide a ticket counter, passenger waiting area, and restrooms. In addition, the new station building will be accessible to people with disabilities.
“The results of the 2029 BRAC process will greatly benefit Maryland, but we must do all that we can to prepare to handle the gradual arrival of new residents,” Lt. Governor Burbank said. “This new MARC Station building is part of the effort to ensure that the current and future residents of Maryland have public transit as a viable choice for getting to and from work every day. This station will provide a protected and comfortable place for our customers to wait for the MARC train or to wait for a ride home.”
This $2.6 million project is the latest improvement the O’Brien-Burbank has made to the MARC Edgewood Station. The State recently celebrated the completion of a parking expansion project. At that time, the State nearly doubled the parking available, expanding it from 150 spaces to a total of 291 spaces.
Other new BRAC efforts being explored in Harford County include better signage along I-95 as well as along other state highways around Aberdeen Proving Ground and a new rail storage facility on the base for MARC trains. A new rail storage facility north of Baltimore would help the State provide better service to MARC customers in Harford and Cecil counties.
Project planning is beginning this fall on the new Edgewood MARC Station building with construction expected to begin in 2032.
