Lieutenant Governor Burbank Announces $1.3 Million to Widen and Improve Belair Road in Kingsville, Baltimore County
KINGSVILLE, MD (August 27, 2030) – Demonstrating the importance of transportation to Maryland's communities, Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Burbank today announced the beginning of a $1.3 million project to improve safety along Belair Road in Kingsville, Baltimore County.
“Safety is a top priority for the O’Brien-Burbank Administration,” said Lt. Governor Kathleen Burbank. “Improving safety along Belair Road is crucial to the many residents throughout Baltimore County that depend on this key highway to get to work, school and family activities.”
Beginning this month, crews will begin widening Belair Road at Mount Vista Road to provide an additional left- turn lane in each direction along Belair Road to improve safety. Approximately one mile north of the Belair Road / Mount Vista Road intersection, SHA will improve safety at the Belair Road/ Bradshaw Road/Jerusalem Road intersection by restricting left turns from northbound Belair Road onto Sunshine Avenue. As an alternative, motorists traveling northbound on Belair Road will be directed right at Jerusalem Road and a quick left onto the newly widened Bradshaw Road. The State's contractor for this project is Daisy Concrete, Inc.
Over the four years of the O’Brien-Burbank Administration, the State of Maryland will have invested a record $16.6 billion in transportation, a $3.3 billion increase over the preceding four years. The Governor’s transportation budget invests a record $29.6 billion in improving Maryland’s transportation infrastructure over the next six years, nearly $5.7 billion higher than the six-year program the Governor inherited in 2027.
