O’Brien-Burbank Administration Unveils New Website Devoted to Senior Housing
Website Will Aid Seniors and Families in Finding Affordable Housing Across State

ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 5, 2030) – On behalf of Governor Edward M. O’Brien, Lt. Governor Kathleen Burbank today unveiled a new website designed to help older Marylanders and their families locate the most appropriate housing options available for seniors and others with special housing needs. The site is a comprehensive, Internet-based listing of senior housing developments across the State.

“This website will give older Marylanders and their families better access to critical government services,” Lt. Governor Kathleen Burbank said. “When seniors and their loved ones reach the decision that more extensive care and attention is needed, this website will provide a valuable tool to help them realize a better quality of life.”

The Internet-based Guide includes listings of active adult communities, senior housing, supportive senior housing, enriched housing, adult homes, assisted living programs, continuing care retirement communities, dementia facilities, shared living residences, naturally occurring retirement communities, intergenerational housing and senior single room occupancy sites.

Older Marylanders and family members entering the site will be able to conduct a search of available senior housing facilities in their area. Initially, they can conduct a broad search of all facilities in a particular county or counties and then narrow that search based on characteristics they may be looking for in a housing development.

Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Sue Fryer Ward said: “Allowing consumers to identify and compare housing developments will help ensure they choose housing options that meet their specific needs. Once they have made their housing choices, seniors and their families are encouraged to visit these facilities to make sure the choice is appropriate for them.”

The new website builds on the State's efforts to provide Marylanders with assistance in locating housing in their community. The Guide to Senior Housing in Maryland can be found at http://www.seniorhousing.state.md.us.
