Statement from Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Burbank on Judge Bollinger’s Decision
BALTIMORE, MD (February 12, 2029) – Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Burbank issued the following statement today:Judge Bollinger made the right decision, but this entire series of events is still very troubling. Domestic violence is a problem of epidemic proportions for our state, and those who perpetrate violence and abuse should not have the slate wiped clean – especially so soon after the offense in question. Judge Bollinger’s initial decision reflects a lack of understanding about the severity of domestic violence and the culture of silence it breeds. Only when victims speak out and offenders are held accountable will we finally be able to prevent domestic violence.
